Our long awaited puppy arrived. Who would know by me putting my finger through the crate door and feeling the ever so delicate
lick while looking up at me with dark eyes surrounded by half crescent moon whites, yet never lifting his head, my life would never
be the same. He had my heart. Through the years he mastered his upward glance that would melt the toughest of hearts. I don’t
think I ever saw him lick again, it was somehow beneath him to slobber on someone. Only once when a judge bent down to open
his mouth to check his proper teeth did he again ever so gently touch her cheek with the tip of his tongue as if to say, I deserve to
win first place, and so he did with his little bribe kiss. To this day we kid about winning our first five point major with his eloquent
kiss. He went on from there to win over many of the top breeders in the United States. I was proud to call him mine, or was it me
that was his?
His goal in life was simple, making everyone pet him. But little did they know it was his plan, to be under his spell. Quinn never met
anyone he did not like. All his manners, and knowledge in behavior went right out the window. I could call him until I was blue in
the face, but he just had to go greet the new person, while looking over his shoulder giving me “The look”, as if to say, Ok Ok,
just let me say hi. He never jumped, he was always the perfect gentleman, surrounding his victim with curving body making any
get away impossible, and hand bumping for another pet. Always so happy to see another interesting human. Children, as he
would say it, were made his size just for him and would lead them around by them holding his fur.
To my Buddy, my pal, my Best Friend, you were always there for me, you gave me such joy and I was never alone with you by my
side. I would often wake feeling your cold nose checking on me. You did not leave this world alone, not only I was with you holding
your paw and looking into those deep brown eyes, everyone who you touched in your life was there in heart. I know you will be on
the other side of the Rainbow Bridge chasing chipmunks, waiting to perhaps give me another tiny delicate kiss while embracing
me with your warmth. There will only be one Quinn……..until we meet again.
| OUR PAST FAMILY MEMBERS We would not be where we are today without the wonderful family of our past . I fear not, as I know you are waiting on the other side of the rainbow bridge and I will wait to hear your paws coming to greet me. Our joyous reunion will be special, your kisses will rain upon my face, my hands again caress the beloved head with such passion, and I will be looking into your trusting eyes once again. Never absent in my heart, I miss each and everyone of my best friends! |
